As the Winter comes to a close, the bikes are dusted off or new ones bought with great intentions, it time to start thinking about your next challenge. The friendly competition with your mates up your local hill isn’t cutting the mustard anymore, It’s time to test yourself. Here we look at some of the best sportives this spring.
Magee Donegal Spring Sportive | 14th April 2018
The “Spring Sportive” was first run in 2013 and proved very popular attracting 200 participants. With the option of three routes, there is something for everyone. Taking in the scenic roads of South West Donegal, our Sportive offers stunning scenery, challenging routes, good organisation and great hospitality. All routes will meander along the “Wild Atlantic Way” with the 140K route taking in some of Donegal’s famous “The Bluestack Drive”.

SRAC Atlantic Challenge | 24th March 2018
The SRAC Atlantic Challenge is Ireland’s most popular cycle. In 2017, over 3,000 cyclists from 24 countries cycled with the 1987 Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and World Champion winner, Stephen Roche and legend cyclist Sean Kelly. Described by lonely planet as the 5th best cycling route in the world, the cycle starts and finishes in Ennistymon, Co Clare, Ireland. The scenic cycle route along the Wild Atlantic Way coastline, the Burren, Lahinch Beach, the famous Cliffs of Moher and Corkscrew Hill, this cycle has it all.

Westport Gran Fondo | 14th April 2018
Westport Gran Fondo is taking place on Saturday 14th April with 2 exceptional routes catering for those who would like to Race Like a Pro ( Gran Fondo 122km) or taking in the breath taking scenery on a leisure cycle & give it a go ( Medio Fondo 70km) with your friends. Both events are chipped timed with winner‘s jersey’s up for grabs.

Night Rider Sportif | 28th April 2018
Starting just before sunset you will cycle into the darkness. Enjoy the night time quiet while the light from the moon and stars help to guide your way. This is an ideal way to kick-start your cycling for the year or to push you that little bit further. It is also just a wonderful way to spend a moonlit evening in April. 2 routes to choose from with 100k and 60k distances along the magnificent Wild Atlantic Way.

Wild Atlantic Way Sportif | 20th April – 8th May 2018
The world’s longest defined coastal touring route, the Wild Atlantic Way’s 2,500km of scenic coastal and inland trails running along Ireland’s western seaboard make it a world-class destination for cyclists of all skill levels. A route that runs form Kinsale, Co. Cork to the Innishowen Peninsula in Co. Donegal, riders can choose a single day, a block of 4 days or the full trip.
